My Desk in July

My Desk in July is a study in texture. The prompt had us choose seven objects, with at least five being from nature, to compose and then observe and study. I decided to take some items that meant a lot to me from my room and outside and arranged them in a corner of my desk. The most challenging part of this process was definitely capturing the details of the vase’s intricate pattern, but I ended up learning a lot about focusing on the shapes that highlights and shadows create instead of the literal object in front of me. In addition to the vase, the plants were decaying over the week I worked on this project, causing them to change position, color, and shape over time.
