Seance

The assignment for this project was to create a visual representation of a sound piece created by another group in our class. The sound piece we chose was about the phenomenon of a seance, but we could not include any literal aspects of a seance, like ghosts or the dead. My group worked closely together to create a plot, storyboard, and treatment for our video. The three of us all filmed, with Loren Boyd and I using a digital camera and Layla Hajigurban using an older camera to shoot from her POV while acting. I also shot some additional B-roll with the older camera to flesh out our footage. We filmed the video in about two hours one night and edited the video the next day. We spent a lot of time matching the rhythms in the sound piece to the cuts in footage to make the two very cohesive. This process was very collaborative, and the three of us were constantly concocting and innovating to create the best result possible.
