Death of Summer

This assignment focused on value and proportion and also introduced the technique of a toned ground drawing. This was my first concrete attempt at drawing realistically, so this project was quite daunting for me to approach. I chose a composition for the piece similar to one I would choose when photographing life, and then I focused primarily on areas with extreme highlights or shadows to ground my drawing. I then filled in the rest of the mid-tones from there.
