All Grown Up

All Grown Up is a solo performance created and performed by me as a final project for my Time Studio class. The piece is an abstract response to Bruce Nauman’s Wall Floor Positions (check his piece out here).
I abstracted every idea for the performance to make it more absurd, from the water I poured onto my head to the music playing throughout the performance. I chose to perform this in a stairwell because I really enjoyed the idea and challenge of an unorthodox stage that I would be forced to interact with. The multiple vantage points also intrigued me as it would create more interaction for the audience. Before the performance commenced, I instructed my audience on how to engage with and watch me throughout the piece. For the beginning and end of the performance, they were instructed to look out of the window until they couldn’t see me anymore. They were then instructed to move to the landings between each floor to throw candy at me as I ascended and descended the stairs.
