This project was my second cyanotype of the semester, so I wanted to challenge myself to use only found and hand-created objects. I also worked at a larger scale than I'm used to.
The assignment asked us to take inspiration from typography in the environment around us, as well as to use two words that described our artistic practice. I found a cool poster with a handwritten font, so I decided to finger-paint my text with my handwriting.
The stars were hand-arranged onto the paper around the text and photographs. For one photo I used a printed negative, and for the others, I took apart polaroids. Although the method I used for this process didn’t create consistent or predictable results, I liked the uncertainty and experimentation that came with it.
